Benefits Of Alpaca Fiber
Nachhaltig hergestellt
Aus einer Hand aus Bolivien stammend, unterstützen wir 60.000 indigene Familien.
Our production process is strictly 100% in Bolivia, from the shearing of the Alpaca in the indigenous communities in the Andes, to the processing of the fiber.
We source 100% natural earth-based materials that are renewable, biodegradeable, and circular. We use 100% Alpaca and 100% Llama fibers that are carefully harvested in indigenous communities across Bolivia. Up to 70% of our products are undyed, but we also use eco-friendly dyes using natural dyeing processes.
Our manufacturing process is based on sustainable sourcing and production principles. We single-source all production within Bolivia. We do import metal zippers (used in our cardigans and 1/2 zip sweaters), corozo buttons (used in our cardigans and made from seeds from the Corozo tree in Ecuador), and elastic (used in our sweatpants).
From the shearing of alpaca fleece in small indigenous communities in the mountains, to the carding, cleaning and spinning into yarn, each step within our production process is fully traceable and transparent. We work with over 25 local artisans who handmake each item using traditional handknitting and handloomed techniques. Completed items are then forwarded to our office in Cochabamba using local freight companies before being shipped to the US.
Warum Alpaka
Fiber of the Gods - Die überlegene Outdoor-Faser für Komfort und Langlebigkeit.
Bred for thousands of years, The Inca civilization bred alpacas to have the world’s finest fleece, creating an incredibly soft fiber capable of withstanding freezing cold temperatures.
The alpaca produces one of the warmest natural fibers in existence, being warmer than sheeps wool, including merino wool. Alpaca fiber has a hollow internal structure which allows it to better retain heat and makes it lighter than merino wool. Alpaca fiber is naturally temperature regulating due to this semi-hollow structure.
Alpacas produce some of the finest fleece in the world, the Incans referred to it as the "fleece of the gods". They have been bred for their fine fibers for over 600 years. Free from lanolin, alpaca fiber is hypoallergenic and is soft to the touch and not itchy. We source only the finest baby alpaca, superfine alpaca and Royal alpaca fibers.
Alpacas are raised high up in the altiplano or high plains and in the Andes mountains of Bolivia and Peru. In Bolivia, alpacas live in mountainous communities that are indigenous and descendants of the Incas. Raising alpacas is their livelihood and they are considered part of the family in these communities.
