our values

INCA ROYAL Knitwear was founded on 3 basic notions; to do good for the planet by supporting underserved communities, to support natural ecosystems by selecting renewable materials and fabrics, and to be part of a global circular economy that helps preserves the planet for future generations. To put it into simpler terms, we believe that all of our activities should be done with the people, and with the environment in mind. Our founder sought to create an ecologically friendly brand from the ground up to help combat the fast-fashion industry, one based on unethical and unsustainable principles. Fast-fashion has quickly made the textiles industry the world's number #2 polluter, emitting huge amounts of greenhouse gases while depleting non-renewable sources, and negatively impacting natural environments.

Mission

To provide consumers the most sustainable & highest quality knitwear made of the finest alpaca fibers for a fair price, while supporting indigenous communities in Bolivia including small family farms and artisans as we help preserve their ancient traditions.

Vision

To make the fashion industry more sustainable by teaching and motivating consumers to choose apparel products that are produced using 100% natural & biodegradable materials and using sustainable manufacturing practices.

WE ARE CARE ABOUT ALPACAS

Alpacas are free roaming animals and they thrive in the the high plains and mountainous area. Unlike sheep, they are not very industrialized and most are raised by families in small villages. They are raised using traditional methods that date back from the Incas.

Alpacas are free roaming

Alpacas are carefully sheared by their owners or by villagers in a responsible manner. Alpacas are considered like family to many indigenous communities. Mechanical shearing is also used in Peru but following national guidelines for humane practice.

Alpacas are gently Sheared

Alpacas are highly valued in indigenous regions and great care is taken to ensure illnesses and injuries are properly treated. The annual shearing actually helps keep alpacas healthy by helping them renew their fleece.

Alpacas are prized by their indigenous owners

WE CARE ABOUT PEOPLE

Each year, alpaca processors and distributors purchase the raw fleece directly from the alpaca farmers. They help support the livelihood of thousands of Bolivian and Peruvian communities. They pay fair market prices for the fiber.

WE CARE ABOUT OUR PLANET

By single sourcing in Bolivia, we are able to reduce our carbon footprint by sourcing, manufacturing and maintaining all production in one country. This also improved our supply chain efficiency and product quality due to offering us greater control of production.

Single Sourcing = Lower Carbon Footprint

Unlike polyester and acrylic, alpaca fiber is 100% biodegradeable meaning it will decompose back to the earth. Over 80% of our apparel uses natural undyed fabrics and we also use cotton lining for most of our items. We still do use aluminum fo our zippers and elastic for our waistbands for our sweatpants but we will soon source ecofriendly alternatives.

Our Apparel Is Biodegradeable

We try to use minimal packaging when we ship out our clothes and mostly use renewable poly mailers. Some packages also use plastic packaging but we will soon replace these with corn starch packaging. More importantly, we ensure that your item will arrive to you in one piece so that it will last you several years.

Minimal Packaging + Long-Lasting

Inca Royal Knitwear strives to become an apparel brand that supports the people, the animals, and the environment. By sourcing raw materials directly from indigenous farmers and by working with artisans groups, we can make an impact in the local communities. We plan to continue to invest in underserved communities and to pay our workers fair wages and offering better working conditions. Sustainability will always be a core part of our mission and we hope to become on the world's most sustainable apparel brands!
