Baby Alpaca Pullover Hoodie

Hoodie Baby Alpaca Sweatpants

Elevate your wardrobe with our remarkably soft hoodie and jogger set made of 100% Baby Alpaca. Alpaca fabric is natural, durable, and warmer than wool.

Just over 10 months ago, we set out to create the most comfortable loungewear set made from 100% Baby Alpaca fiber. After multiple prototypes and after trying out several different designs, we landed on the final designs shown here below. We chose to use only Baby and Royal Alpaca, the two finest Alpaca fibers available, all sourced from Bolivia. Now, we need your help to bring our dream to fruition, as the cost of sourcing, manufacturing, and logistics is very high for a small Startup.

Who are we? INCAROYAL Knitwear is a sustainable apparel brandbuilt on the values of ethical product sourcing, fair wages, and sustainable manufacturing of eco-friendly products. Sustainable, defines not taking more from the earth than what can be given back or naturally reproduced. We believe that we can shift the industry back to a slower type of fashion based on quality and based on conserving the earth.

We source 100% natural earth-based materials that are renewable, biodegradable, and circular (recyclable). Our products use 100% Alpaca fibers that are carefully harvested from local indigenous communities throughout Bolivia. 80% of our products use natural undyed Alpaca fibers, while 20% use dyes from natural dyeing processes or eco-friendly dyes. While we still have work to do to meet our goal of becoming a carbon-neutral brand, we are continually taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint.

The problem: Over 70% of apparel is now made of acrylic, polyester, or other man-made fabrics. These synthetic fabrics are reliant on fossil fuels as they are made from oil and gas. The global fashion industry has created a dangerous addiction to synthetic fibers, and this is destroying natural ecosystems including the world’s oceans, rivers, lakes, and water supply. Textile waste is also creating landfills the size of cities, and the worst part is that these synthetic fabrics won’t decompose for up to 200 years or more. The US alone throws out 2150 pieces of clothing per second or 11.3 million tons per year. Finally, many of these products are made in unsanitary factories where workers are forced to work 6 or 7 days a week and are treated like 21st century slaves.

The Facts

• The global fashion industry emits 1.7 billion tons of CO2 per year, more than the total emitted by international flights and shipping combined.

• The Fashion industry alone accounts for up to 10% of total global carbon dioxide output.

• 87 percent of clothing that Is manufactured ends up in landfills or incinerated.

• The United States alone throws out 185.76 million clothes every 24 hours.

• Each 13-pound load of wash of synthetic materials releases up to 700,000 tiny plastic particles into the environment.

• The UN has warned that microplastics pose a threat to human health. 71% of microplastics found in US waterways are from textiles.

• Textiles are the second largest product group made of oil-based plastics, after packaging, making up 15% of all petrochemical products.

• Global Polyester market set to grow from $106 billion in 2022 to $174.7 billion in 2032. It will exceed 92 millions tons in the next 10 years, an increase of 47%.

• Even so-called bioplastics such as cellulose and other plant-based plastics contain toxic chemicals. In fact, cellulose and starch-based products are the highest in vitro toxicity.

The solution

Replace synthetic materials by choosing natural eco-friendly materials that come from the earth. Choosing renewable materials instead of synthetics createshealthy ecosystems, supports local communities, andprotects the planet. Our vision is for humans and nature to live together harmoniously.

After years of research and working with several different natural fibers, we chose to work with Alpaca fiber due to its incredible natural properties and its durability. We also became motivated to make an impact in one of the poorest regions on the planet, the Bolivian Andes.

Why Alpaca

Sustainable, renewable material with amazing warmth-to-weight ratio. Alpaca’s wondrous properties:

Fiber Of The Gods

Preserved for royalty, Alpaca was worth more to the Incas than Gold.

With a history spanning over 5000 years, Alpacas have evolved into one of nature's natural wonders, as one of the best natural fibers on the planet. Originally preserved for Incan Royalty and known as "lana de los dioses" or fiber of the gods, the Alpaca and its soft fiber was worth more to the Incas than Gold. The fiber was so durable that it was used to build bridges, and so soft that it was used to dress the emperors.

Nature's Wonder

As soft as cashmere, yet lighter and more durable than wool.

Alpaca fiber is a highly functional natural fiber due to Alpaca's harsh living conditions in the Andes plains and mountains. Alpacas come in 16 natural color tones and in varying degrees of fineness including Royal (18-19.5 microns), Baby (19.5-22 microns), and Superfine Alpaca (22-25 microns). The fiber is warm, durable, soft, and has incredible technical properties, which is why it is used in outdoor and luxury clothing among other uses.

Single-Sourced in Bolivia:

Transparent Supply Chain with low carbon footprint. Every stage of the production process is carried out within the South American country of Bolivia, from the sourcing for the alpaca fibers, to the manufacturing of the garments. Keeping a shorter and more transparent supply chain allows us to trace each step of the production process which reduces our carbon footprint.

5-step Process:

1) Step 1: Alpaca is carefully sheared in the spring in indigenous Bolivian communities.

2) Step 2: Alpaca fleece is sent to be processed and is carefully sorted based on quality.

3) Step 3: The Alpaca yarn is carefully washed (no toxic chemicals used) to remove dirt and impurities.

4) Step 4: Alpaca fleece is combed, carded, and prepared for spinning.

5) Step 5: The yarn is then spun and finished so that it is ready to be made into knitwear or other textiles.

Single sourcing from Bolivia also gives us greater control of production as all products must meet stringent quality controls.

Our Impact: Empowering women with a sustainable mission

Show photos of people shearing, of people transporting, of people washing and spinning the fiber, and artisans knitting and producing.

Bolivia is known for being the poorest country in South America, with an unofficial poverty rate as high as 39%, with official government numbers coming in at between 20-25%. Up to 80% of the population lives in less-than-ideal conditions and many struggle to make ends meet. We wanted to make a difference in the country and offer workers fair wages while also indirectly supporting over 60,000 families that make their living raising alpacas and llamas.

We currently support over 20 artisans that produce our garments and with your support that number is set to grow to 50-75 artisans who finish each sweater and accessory by hand. Most of our artisans can work comfortably from their homes, with others choosing to work in workspaces that offer sanitary and safe work conditions. Our hope is to expand the textile industry in Bolivia and to continue to provide fair wages, safe working conditions, and additional opportunities for growth.

Why Bolivia?

Why Bolivia? Most Alpaca garments today are sourced and produced in Peru. Bolivia has the second-largest global Alpaca Population with over 500,000 Alpacas. We chose to support Bolivia because of the quality of the fiber, the fair treatment of the Alpacas, the ingenuity of its artisans, and the country’s unique culture. Bolivia is a multiethnic and geographically diverse landlocked country in South America, bordered by Peru, Brazil, Columbia, Chile, Paraguay, and Argentina. Bolivia is one of the most unique countries in South America known for being the cultural heart of South America due to its spectacular landscapes and due to its indigenous ancestry.Bolivia was originally part of the Incan Empire, and to this day, Bolivia has the highest percentage of indigenous population in South America. Bolivia is known for its culture, traditions, music & art, gastronomy, and incredible mountainous landscapes and rainforests. Bolivia is known as a place where you can experience all the seasons in one day, within the Andes mountains and in the altiplano or “high plains”. This is where you will find the local alpaca population, high up in the Bolivian altiplano in the Andes mountains at elevations of 12,000-17,000 feet (4000-5200 meters). It is here where alpacas have naturally adopted to the extreme weather conditions, as the temperature can shift up to 50 degrees Fahrenheit within the same day.

Our Story

INCAROYAL was founded in 2022 as a sustainable knitwear brand using 100% natural earth-friendly fibers, with products being designed in the USA, and sourced and handmade by artisans in Bolivia. The company was created to create a bridge between Bolivia and the rest of the world. Bolivia has a fascinating history as it was part of the Incan empire for hundreds of years, a civilization that used alpaca to build bridges and to create the finest garments deemed mostly for royalty at the time. Today, these ancient Incan practices and traditions live on in indigenous communities across Bolivia that are descendants of the Incas. The incredible talent of Bolivian artisans can be seen in the woven textiles, garments, handknit items, and accessories that are still being produced today. In Bolivia, over 60% of the population in Bolivia struggle to make ends meet including thousands of these artisans, 80-90% who are women. After seeing the ingenuity and the artistic talent of Bolivia’s artisans, especially in textiles, we knew we had to find a way to support them by telling their story, and by selling their products around the world. Our goal is to make a difference by offering fair wages 3-5 times above the norm, by using the finest natural materials that are all sourced from Bolivia, and by giving back to local charities and nonprofits that are supporting biodiversity, natural ecosystems, and the most impoverished communities.
